Sgt. John Shine responded to a call of a gunman terrorizing a neighborhood. The gunman killed one woman, wounded two men and ran through the streets brandishing a pistol. The offender then barricaded himself in his apartment. Sgt. Shine courageously went to the apartment and demanded entry. The gunman fired through the door, striking the sergeant. Sgt. Shine died in the hospital two hours later.
