2021 DC Memorial Information

Admin / Uncategorized /

Retired Sergeant Al Piantowski has once again created an informative guide for this year’s Washington DC Police Memorial. The guide highlights the events and places to be for 2021’s Police Memorial “Police Week”. It gives a brief background of the Memorial as well as listing the Chicago Officers lost in 2020. Al includes area hotels, airports, as well as local transportation. If you plan on attending please take a look at the guide, it will be a great assistance to you. I would like to thank Al for once again providing the guide, which he compiles on his own time.

Message From PBPA State Lodge

Admin / Uncategorized /

Superintendent David Brown and all Chicago Police Department Employees,

I am reaching out to you today to offer my Condolences on the loss of Officer Ella French.
Words cannot describe the pain and sorrow felt when we lose a brother or a sister in our law enforcement family.  It is never easy and we must never forget the sacrifices that are made by heroes like Officer French.

Officers throughout the State of Illinois are going out every day to protect their communities and are facing more and more violent attacks against them.  These unnecessary attacks on our law enforcement officers must stop!  I know that you and your officers are facing tough and difficult situations multiple times each shift. I pray that the violence and attacks on our men and women in uniform will come to an end very soon.

It is also my understanding that you have another officer in the hospital fighting for his life as a result of this same incident. May god bless him and look over him for a full recovery.

On behalf of myself and the entire executive board of the Police Benevolent and Protective Association of Illinois, please accept our prayers and our condolences.  I will continue to pray for the families of those affected and for the entire Chicago Police Department family.

Sincerely,

Todd Keil

President,

Police Benevolent and Protective Association of Illinois

About the C.P.S.A.

The Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association (C.P.S.A.) was established on September 6, 1907. The Association became incorporated on March 3, 1978 and was organized for the purpose of forming an association comprised of men and women who were employed by the Department of Police, City of Chicago and who hold or have held the rank of Sergeant. The goal of the corporation was, at that time, to through the united effort of the members, to promote the best possible working conditions for the members of the association (...“Nothing herein shall be deemed to authorize the corporation to act as a union.”).

In 1998 the C.P.S.A., became a member of the Police Benevolent & Protective Association (PB & PA of Illinois). As the CPSA, the association still actively maintains a social and fraternal organizational structure. As Unit156A of the PBPA, Illinois, the Chicago Sergeants have expanded their horizons and have become not only a fraternal organization but a labor union created to protect the rights of its’ members and to advance their best interests and concerns through the bargaining process.

Mission

The mission of the Chicago Police Sergeants' Association is to promote the fair and equitable treatment of all Chicago Police Sergeants; to provide assistance to any Sergeant who has been wronged by the city or department, who have had their contractual rights denied, as well as those who have been denied the rightful benefits that their employer provides; to prevent any type of job discrimination, unfair practices, reprimands, or suspensions which may arise; to work diligently for and with all Sergeants while acquiring and maintaining the best possible working conditions and benefits for all members through the collective bargaining process;maintain and promote a social as well as a fraternal organization; provide assistance to all members and their families in their time of need; and promote the morale and welfare for the collective good of all Sergeants of the Chicago Police Department.
