It is with heavy heart that I write this. We lost a longtime Board member who upon retirement became our Northside Retiree Representative. Jacque Boyd had served this Association for many years. She was at each meeting and had attended all the North side retiree functions to keep our retirees abreast any Association news. We all had the good fortune of seeing Jacque at our last meeting on December 14. Unfortunately Jacque passed on 07 January. Services will held for Jacque on February 8 at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home from 3-8 p.m. The funeral home is located at 7812 N. Milwaukee in Niles. A funeral mass will held on February 9 at St. Juliana Church located at 7201 N. Oketo which is located at Oketo and Touhy. If you knew Jacque or were an acquaintance please stop at the services to pay your respect to her family.

The CPSA is proud to offer a first edition challenge coin. They are available for sale at the hall 1616 W. Pershing Rd. and at any of the General Meetings. Cost for the inaugural coin is only $10 and all proceeds will go to the Active Sergeants’ Death Benefit Fund.

The Association held it’s annual September Awards / Pizza meeting for the first time at Connie’s Pizza. It was very well attended and a good time was had by all. Awards for distinguished service were presented to Sgt. Ray Piwnicki (003), Sgt. Tom Surma (019), and Sgt. Tom Dolan (007). Awardees not in attendance were Sgts. Kevin Leahy (011), Marco Mendoza (003), and Joe Stanula (001). Please if you know any Sergeants who you feel have went above and beyond normal duty please submit their names and case specifics so they could possibly be honored at next year’s meeting. Time frame is from Sept 2018 to Sept 2019.
